Weekend Observbations

Welcome to my weekend. After an absolutely crazy week at the studios of WDNG in Anniston, AL, I am  so glad to be at home with Mr. Gossett and my cats, Otis and Matilda.  As much as I enjoy what I do during the work week, I enjoy spending time at home even more. It gives me the opportunity to relax, think and review the previous week in order to attempt to not repeat any hiccups that may have happened the previous week.  We did have quite a bit of excitement this past week. Todd Starnes of Fox Radio News and Commentary was in the Anniston/Oxford area and we did our best to have him in studio with morning show host, Michael Dean Smith and his side kick, Andrew McLain. That didn’t go as we had planned. The weather wasn’t in our favor and we had to do the interview via telephone. There was a lot of rain that slowed Todd and his entourage from Tuscaloosa to the Anniston/Oxford area and Todd was committed to be at the Lifeway Christian Store at the Oxford Exchange at 11:00 a.m. We were able to work around it and instead of seeing Todd in our studios at WDNG, my Operations Manager, Pamela Bates and myself drove down to the Lifeway Christian Store and met with Todd. We had a great visit and got to visit with his group of guys that were helping out with his book signing tour.

Todd was the highlight of the week but as always, Von (aka Veronica O’Neal) and I had a great time doing Tugg Talk on Friday. It’s our show all about the animals we love.  The hot topic was pet food and how many of the brands are either being recalled or accusations being thrown between companies over ingredients that may or may not be in the pet food. It’s an interesting debate and one that the big pet food companies are taking on. it’s quite the topic in the animal world. I could go on a rant for several lines about pet food – to make your own or to buy the manufactured food we find in our local pet stores but I think that’s a blog post for another time and another day.

What I do have on my mind today is something that’s weighed heavy on my heart for a longtime and I think it’s time to begin to make some changes with regards to it. My weight. I have had a weight problem for most of my adult life. I’ve been on all kinds of weight loss programs and paid more money than I care to admit to. I’ve gained and lost enough weight to make another person or two and right now, I need to loose enough right now to make yet another person. I have felt that my sense of self-control is lost somewhere in the craziness of my life. I’m one busy person who has a lot on my plate, like a lot of people in the world today.  Much of my time is spent taking care of my father, my husband, my business and my pets and sometimes I think there’s no time left over to take care of me. It was after seeing the pictures that were taken with Todd Starnes this week that made me realize that it’s either now or never that I take care of myself and begin loosing some of this extra baggage I’m carrying around. I’m seeing myself being held back by joint pain and a lack of energy that I once had but seems to have gone into a coma like state a long time ago.  I find my self out of breath frequently and seeing that I’m very much menopausal, my personal summer is getting way out of hand.  I’m not happy with what I’m seeing. I do believe it’s time to begin watching what I take in calorically and begin moving. I realize it won’t be easy at first but I have got to do something. I don’t want my life cut short any time soon so, I need to begin making some changes.  Instead of having 4 scrambled eggs, I need to do 2 or 3 and not have an over abundance of cheese on top of those eggs and drop the toast covered in margarine. I’ve felt tired and weighed down after such a large breakfast and have gone back to bed on a Saturday because I became so sleepy and tired. Not any more. Today, I had 3 eggs with 6 slices of American Cheese on the eggs. so far so good for today. I do hope that I am able to keep it up. I plan share my journey here on my blog. I do hope it becomes an excellent journey. It will be a gradual one and my hope is that it’s full of success stories. Only time can tell where it goes.

That’s all for today and I’ll see you here again tomorrow or maybe later today. We’ll see how things go as today unfolds.

God Bless you all real good.
