It’s a wet Friday as I sit at my desk in my office with wood paneling. It’s very much retro 1960/70 something and I kind of like that. There’s an antique stereo receiver that includes a turntable for listening to vinyl records. Those were the days and I sure miss them. At the same time, I don’t think I want to return to those days. I’ve grown accustomed to the life I’ve grown accustomed to. Although, I often become a little overwhelmed with all of the electronic marketing and social media sites. I’ve only perfected one and that’s Facebook. I’m learning to work with Twitter and Instagram. I have a Periscope account but haven’t done any video as of yet. I’m sure that’s next, after I become more Twitter and Instagram savvy. In spite of all of the overwhelming aspects of the 21st Century marketing possibilities, I am very grateful to be where I am in my life. I’ve wanted to do more than just your mundane routine of wake up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, watch tv, sleep then do it all again then ext morning. Inheriting a radio station and learning the day to day operations of said station has been a definite work in progress. I’ve had not first hand management experience when I began but in the 3 years I’ve been at WDNG, I’ve come very far from those early days in September of 2012. I was clueless as to exactly what I was to do in my position. Some days I still wonder what I’m supposed to do but I take on the day like anyone else with anticipation of learning something new and seeing some really great things happen. I have to admit that in spite of all of the boring parts of radio management/ownership, I do love what I do. I am able to make a difference in so many ways. I know I’m working on making a difference in the animal world with my show,”Tugg’s Dog House Radio Show.” I’ve always been an animal lover. I pretty didn’t go without having a pet of some kind growing up. We had a lot of mixed breed dogs (aka mutts) along with a Weimaraner, a Begle and my favorite of them all, a Basset Hound. I didn’t become a crazy cat lady until I got my first home in the late 1980’s. My mother freaked out when she saw that little kitten but she warmed up that little scamp in time and became a crazy lady herself. I love hearing about people who adopt their fur-ever friend from one of the local shelters. I’ve even been able to meet the name sake of my radio show recently. Tugg the Bull Terrier Puppy isn’t a puppy any longer at age 5 but he’s still an inspiration to never give up. His story has inspired me in so many ways that words can’t express how grateful I am to that pup that I’m thinking doesn’t have a clue as to how many people he’s inspired just by being himself.
I must confess that I haven’t always been grateful for the life I’ve been given. I’ve done my share of playing the blame game a time or two in my life. It wasn’t until after I married and moved away that I finally began to see that I had a pretty awesome childhood and some really great friends. I am grateful for so many people that I spend time with. They’re all pretty darn cool. Those that I consider close friends are bonded relationships. I just don’t know what I’d do without them. The add something to the mix that makes my life rich, more so than any amount of money. I do have my share of finances but they don’t compare to the wealth I experience with my friends and family that I love so dearly. I suppose I am getting rather sappy and that’s okay. There’s just not enough of people seeing life through the eyes of gratitude. If more people did, the world would be a much better place. There are just too many angry, unappreciative people in this world. Way too much of the entitlement mentality going on that messes things up from the way I see it. I’m thinking that my gratitude attitude is all about one thing and that’s Jesus. Jesus is the center of all that I am and all that I do. I don’t have to be rich monetarily because my riches are much greater at my eternal home than it is here on earth. Sure, I’ve got enough finances to keep me living comfortably but it just doesn’t compare to my eternal home. That’s something I so look forward to.
Do you look forward to eternity? Should something happen to you today to cause your life to come to an end unexpectedly, where would you spend eternity? If you fear that you wouldn’t spend eternity in Heaven, it’s time to accept Jesus into your heart. All you need to do is to say a simple prayer, asking Jesus to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart and live there forever. From there, find a good Bible believing church to attend so you can grow on a spiritual level, learning God’s precepts for your life If you need help with this, give me a call at WDNG and I’ll walk you through the process and help you find a good church. I will even take the time to assist you in learning about what the Bible is saying to us. Just give me a call at 256-236-8291 @ WDNG and we can go from there. Or, just stop by the offices of WDNG and we’ll visit in person.
God bless you all and work on that attitude of gratitude. You’ll be glad you did.
