I have spent several days recently reminiscing about all that’s happened during 2015. I got hit early in the year with my father passing away, finally being able to have his wish come true. He spent the better part of four and a half years missing my mother. She passed away from cancer in 2010. This is the first Chrismas without both of them for me and it’s been a challenging year, mostly on an emotional level. Because of the emotional challenges I’ve had, it’s affected other areas of my life too. I’ve tried hard to not let the other areas of my life suffer too much. I am very grateful to an awesome staff at WDNG who’s been so very supportive of me as I work through many of the challenges that come with being an only child and the personal representative of my dad’s estate. There’s still a lot to do on that front but I am grateful to
Where has the time gone??
It’s been a while since I did a blog post and I regret not doing so. I was planning to do one about the Talladega race this past weekend. I wanted to do a post for something else, but other things got in the way. I had a week where I had what I thought was sick sinus headache or maybe even a migraine. We’ve been experiencing some season changes and the weather hasn’t been cooperative so, I blamed the weather. After some time to sit at home and think, I realized that I probably had a sinus infection. So, off I go to the neighborhood doc-in-a-box and yes, I was diagnosed with a killer sinus infection. I felt lousy all day Saturday and Sunday. I did make my way into the office on Monday but not without the desire to be at home asleep. Sleep has always seemed to be the best medicine for a nasty infection of any
Radio Show – Take Away and Withdrawal / For Right Now
Okay, I didn’t do a blog post last week because I was being a busy little bee in Atlanta, Georgia for the majority of last week. I was one of the many radio professionals attending the annual National Association of Broadcasters Radio Show. When these events happen, it’s something of a barrage of information and vendors pushing their wares. I didn’t mind all of the hoopla because I basically signed up for it. I must admit that it can be overwhelming to the senses. The only thing that might trump the Radio Show is the NAB Convention in Las Vegas each year. There’s a lot of noise, lights, cameras and drones all over the Vegas Convention Center. Vegas is whole other world of its own but to add a bunch of crazy broadcasters from all areas of the industry, it just takes the senses on a trip without the intake of stimulating chemicals. This I digress. I did find myself

Gratitude in Abundance
It’s a wet Friday as I sit at my desk in my office with wood paneling. It’s very much retro 1960/70 something and I kind of like that. There’s an antique stereo receiver that includes a turntable for listening to vinyl records. Those were the days and I sure miss them. At the same time, I don’t think I want to return to those days. I’ve grown accustomed to the life I’ve grown accustomed to. Although, I often become a little overwhelmed with all of the electronic marketing and social media sites. I’ve only perfected one and that’s Facebook. I’m learning to work with Twitter and Instagram. I have a Periscope account but haven’t done any video as of yet. I’m sure that’s next, after I become more Twitter and Instagram savvy. In spite of all of the overwhelming aspects of the 21st Century marketing possibilities, I am very grateful to be where I am in my life. I’ve wanted
Home From First Comic Con
Yes, I’m finally back home after a week off and a weekend at my first Comic Con attendance. I wasn’t sure what I’d be experiencing but I’m certain that I knew it would be rather extreme. I’ve seen video from the San Diego Comic Con, the comic con that started it all, and I thought for sure that I’d experience so many geeky hard core comic book aficionados that I’d probably leave greatly affected by the experience. I thought I’d come back telling all kinds of horror stories about what happened. First of all, it was in Cap Canaveral, Florida. For those of you who know me well, you know I am not a fan of Florida or the beach. I do good tolerating the humidity in Alabama but trying to tolerate it in Florida is a whole new level of tolerance. I haven’t considered Florida a souther state for as long as I can remember. Half of the state
Pre and Post Holiday Thoughts, Ideas and Other Stuff
It’s December 2, 2014 – a post Thanksgiving holiday kind of day. In my mind, we’re officially now in the Christmas holiday season. In spite of the fact that a lot of Christmas decorations and such go up as early as July each year, most of it up at running just before Halloween, I’m definitely old school by not working myself up into being in the Christmas Spirit until after Thanksgiving. That’s how we did it when I was growing up and it worked pretty darn good back then so why can’t it work now? Today was weigh in day for me and I was able to loose a pound and a half which makes my loss 14 1/2 lbs total. Yes, weight can come off during the holiday season if we just try. Coming to terms with a weight problem and working on realizing that I will need to eat differently the rest of my life to keep my

Thanksgiving Eve – Lots to be Grateful For
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and there is a lot to be grateful for. I am very much grateful of for all that God has given me, a great husband, an awesome Dad and so very many wonderful friends. Don’t know what I’d do without each of them. Being grateful for a pet may sound off beat but I’m grateful for them too. Talulah, Matilda, Lily Mae and Otis are my babies with 4 legs and fur and they help me keep my sanity on those days when life gets a bit too crazy and I want to punch out from reality for a while. I am also grateful for my health. I have officially taken off 13 lbs of extra weight. I’m on my way down to becoming a more healthy me with the help of a lot of great folks. Moral support is essential for me because I tend to be a compulsive overeater and having support to help keep
First Week – Success and now in the history books
The first week of my new eating program is now in the books. It was a good week too. I am down 9.8 lbs. so far. I’ve got quite a ways to go to be where I’d like to be but it’s a darn good start in my mind. The first couple days were kind of crazy. I felt like I was zapped of the last remaining energy I had. I was going to an all day meeting on 11/13/14 but I didn’t quite make it. I truly needed the extra rest and it paid off. I felt a whole lot better on Friday. Saturday was another day to get some rest but at the same time, I found myself accomplishing a bit more than what I typically do on Saturdays. I actually got clothes folded and put away that I normally wait a while to actually fold or put away. I felt good about my accomplishments. I’ve randomly checked
Progress continues…
I can’t speak for anyone else but I am very grateful for today – it’s SATURDAY, a day I look forward as many others do. I admit that I have things to do on Saturday’s like laundry but it also allows me some very much needed down time. It’s been a day of energy ups and downs on this new eating program of mine. I continue to learn with each step taken of what I need to do for consistency in energy and the betterment of my health. I’m still needing to keep a steady trail to the restroom due to all of the fluids I’m drinking. I’m hoping that things on that front improves because I’m not liking getting up in the middle of the night to have to go potty. I’m also hoping that things begin to balance out because I’m not sure I can make it happen between now and my goal weight and that’s quite a
And the effort continues…
It’s now day three of my effort to take off some excess weight and become a bit more healthy. I have to admit that I forgot what the first few days of a new eating program is like. I’m feeling like my body is totally exhausted and that I need some extra sleep. With the Medi-Weightloss program, I’m doing proteins only the first week. The goal is to have my body in ketosis which puts my body into a fat burning mode. At least, that’s how I understand it at this stage of the game. I’ve been drinking a lot of fluids too. So many fluids to where I’m keeping a steady path to the restroom. Right now, I wish I didn’t feel this way because all of me ifs feeling pretty darned good except for parts of me that feel so drained of energy. I suppose I’m seeing the signs of my bad eating habits from the days prior
